Technical Assistance: Stronger Organizations, Stronger Communities
Impact Alamance invests not only in projects and programs, but in the people and systems that make them possible. Our capacity-building initiative connects local nonprofits with experienced consultants who provide organizational assessments, strategic planning, board development, and other technical assistance services we fund directly so organizations can focus their resources where they are needed most. By strengthening leadership, governance, and long-term planning, we are building a more resilient network of partners equipped to navigate change and expand their impact.
In 2025, we supported both CrossRoads Sexual Assault Center and Habitat for Humanity as they strengthened their organizational capacity. CrossRoads partnered with Armstrong McGuire to conduct a strategic refresh of its four-year plan. With shifts in the community and new board leadership in place, the organization saw an opportunity to realign its priorities and ensure its direction remains clear, actionable, and responsive to evolving needs. The process resulted in an updated strategic plan with defined goals and systems to track progress—equipping board and staff to lead with clarity and confidence.

Habitat for Humanity also engaged in board development following a year of significant transition, including new leadership and changes in funding. Through a comprehensive BoardSource assessment and a facilitated retreat led by Leading and Governing Associates, the organization is strengthening governance practices, clarifying roles, and aligning board and staff around shared goals. These efforts may happen behind the scenes, but their impact is far-reaching. By investing in stronger leadership and healthier organizations, Impact Alamance is building the capacity, collaboration, and stability that allow nonprofits to deliver lasting change for our community.
